Grassyville Cemetery Association was founded in 1963 to preserve the final resting sites of the founders of the Grassyville community and their descendants. In 1977, an application was made with the Texas Historical Commission for designation as a State Historical Site, which was granted on April 23, 1978. In 2012 a further application was made for Grassyville Cemetery to receive a designation as a Historic Texas Cemetery, which was granted on August18, 2010,

The Association maintains the site by mowing and removing dead limbs and trees, and maintaining the chain link fence surrounding this peaceful location. Plans have been in the works to clean headstones covered in dirt and lichen, and restore broken stones. Some of the gravestones that have disappeared have recently been replaced with flat, carved markers on the graves by some of our members who have generously paid out of their own pockets to make sure the final resting places of their ancestors is not forgotten.

Grassyville Cemetery Association is a non-profit organization which relies on donations and volunteered time and effort to maintain our link with our past.
